JANUARY TIPPLE

During the cold dark winter months, could there be anything more comforting than a gently warming hug-in-a-mug mocha? Absolutely – aspiced Mexican mocha!

A rich chocolatey coffee with a kick of cinnamon and spicy heat, this Latin-inspired mocha will get your lips tingling and your heart dancing as it warms you from head to toe. It’s super-easy to make, not overly sweet and is gently spiced rather than spicy but do feel free to turn up the heat with an extra pinch of chilli powder!

Makes enough for 1

YOU WILL NEED

✽ 1/2tbsp icing sugar
✽ 1tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
✽ 1/4tsp ground cinnamon
✽ Pinch chilli powder
✽ 225ml hot coffee
✽ 75ml warm milk
✽ Whipped cream (optional)
✽ Marshmallows (optional)

WHAT TO DO

1 In a large mug, combine the dry ingredients. Add a small amount of the hot coffee and stir into a smooth paste.

2 Pour in the rest of the hot coffee and warm milk and stir.

3 Top with whipped cream and marshmallows, if you like.

TIP

Make a large batch of the dry mix and keep in an airtight container, then use 11/2tbsp to make a super-speedy mocha
