A former gardening editor for Modern Gardens magazine and writer for sister titles Garden News and Garden Answers, Melissa has previously worked at the National Trust’s Bodnant Garden and has Royal Horticultural Society qualifications. Melissa has worked in some beautiful and inspiring grand gardens, and says her own (rather more modest) patch is a cottagey mish-mash that’s small and a bit shady, but brings her so much joy.
Keen to invite more wildlife into her garden, Melissa has let some of the lawn grow long, cut through with mown paths, and it has filled out with wildflowers, as well as a multitude of grasshoppers and butterflies.
What Melissa loves most about gardening is the wondrous diversity of styles and plants to discover. She's moved around a lot, and gardened in every region, from wettest Wales to the sunny but super-dry East of England! So when it comes to inspiring ideas for gardens of all shapes and styles, for every gardener, Melissa is the fount of all knowledge. We particularly love her easy but stylish garden makes that you can whip up in an afternoon, some in just 30 minutes! Check out her concrete tealight holders, happy hour planter and pretty ladder plant stand.
